We All Scream for Paleo Ice Cream!

So perhaps this title is a bit misleading, but hear me out. This recipe is for a sort of homemade fruit sorbet. The other day I was pouting about not being able to eat ice cream with my family after dinner. So in an effort to make me feel better my girlfriend whipped up this fruit puree, stuck it in Tupperware, and froze it.

Needless to say this probably shouldn't be eaten every day, as the fruit is still high in sugar, but at least its not processed sugar from the grocery store!

So the glorious concoction you see here ------->
is essentially just blended strawberries frozen over night. Yet something about eating it out of a bowl with a spoon makes it amazingly gratifying if you've been craving a frozen treat.

Now obviously there are certain fruits that are better than others (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries). But keep in mind this is supposed to be a healthy compromise. I've experimented using bananas, and strawberries, with a little almond butter mixed in (tastes something like a PB&J). You can also add some mint to the blender to to make it even more refreshing.

(Fun side note: Did you know that you can't actually taste mint? What you perceive as taste is actually smell. Next time you encounter a piece of mint, try holding your nose as you chew it. Aside from the slight numbness you will experience on your tongue, you won't taste it!)

Anyways, get creative with it. Just make sure that you don't use any fruits that are crazy sugary, like pineapple, otherwise you might as well pick up a carton of Ben and Jerry's. If you are still unsure about which ones to use, check out Paleo Fruits, on Marks Daily Apple.

Happy Eating!
